Express at the depot so grand, |

Had just started out on it's way. |

Most of the passengers 'were on that train, seemed to be happy and gay. |

Except a little boy in a seat by himself, |

Reading a letter he had. |

It was plain to be seen by the tears in his eyes. that the contents of it made him sad. |

A stern Conductor about to seek, |

A ticket from everyone there. |

Approching beside of the little boy, |

He gruffly demanded his fare. |

I haven't no money was the boys reply, |

I'll have to put you off at the station he said, |

But he stopped when he heard the boy say. |
