Lyrics

[00:01.70] Once upon a time,
[00:03.94] there was a king who was absolutely insane about new clothes.
[00:11.84] One day, two swindlers came to the king
[00:16.30] to sell him what they said was a magic suit of clothes.
[00:19.45] Well, the truth of the matter is, there was no suit there at all.
[00:21.67] But these two men were very smart,
[00:24.83] and they held up their hands like this and they said,
[00:29.30] "Your Majesty, this is a magic suit of clothes.
[00:32.57] Naturally because you are very wise and very intelligent
[00:36.20] you can see what a beautiful raiment it is, hum?
[00:39.27] But to a fool, it is absolutely invisible."
[00:46.90] "I see, " said the king
[00:47.24] and naturally, since he didn't want to appear a fool, he said:
[00:51.21] "Isn't it grand! Isn't it fine! Look at the cut, the style, the line!
[00:54.90] The suit of clothes is altogether, but altogether it's altogether,
[00:58.72] the most remarkable suit of clothes that I have ever seen.
[01:02.45] These eyes of mine at once determined,
[01:04.60] the sleeves are velvet, the cape is ermine.
[01:06.64] The hose are blue and the doublet is a lovely shade of green.
[01:12.42] Somebody send for the Queen! "
[01:14.25]
[01:14.52] Well they quickly sent for the Queen and the Queen was quickly told how only wise people could see the magic suit.
[01:20.73] Naturally, the Queen not wanting to appear a fool, said:
[01:28.59] "Well, isn't it oh! Isn't it rich! Look at the charm of every stitch!
[01:33.50] The suit of clothes is altogether, but altogether it's altogether,
[01:36.79] the most remarkable suit of clothes that I have ever seen.
[01:40.10] These eyes of mine at once determined,
[01:42.49] the sleeves are velvet, the cape is ermine.
[01:44.55] The hose are blue and the doublet is a lovely shade of green.
[01:50.18] Summon the court to convene! "
[01:51.60]
[01:55.78] Well the court convened, and you never in your life
[01:59.00] saw as many people as were at that court.
[02:01.84] All the ambassadors were there, the dukes, the earls, the counts,
[02:05.52] it was black with 'em.
[02:07.82] And since none of them wanted to appear a fool, they all said:
[02:12.60] "Isn't it ohhh! Isn't it ahhh! Isn't it absolutely wheee!
[02:16.63] The suit of clothes is altogether, but altogether, it's altogether,
[02:20.29] the most remarkable suit of clothes a tailor ever made.
[02:23.76] Now quickly, put it altogether with gloves of leather and hat and feather.
[02:27.87] It's altogether the thing to wear in Saturday's parade.
[02:33.39] Leading the royal brigade. "
[02:35.13]
[02:35.41] Well, saturday came and everyone been told about the magic suit
[02:40.75] and what they supposed to see.
[02:44.63] So the streets were lined with thousands and thousands and thousands of people.
[02:51.70] And they all watched as the artillery came by,
[02:57.48] as the infantry marched by,
[03:00.90] as the cavalry galloped by.
[03:04.84] And finally the king!
[03:10.73] And since nobody wanted to appear a fool,
[03:14.60] everyone began cheering like mad.
[03:16.38] Boys?
[03:20.22] Very good!
[03:22.33] Except one little boy.
[03:27.50] You see, he hadn't been told about the magic suit
[03:32.16] and he didn't know what he was supposed to see.
[03:35.78] So when the king came by the little boy looked
[03:43.72] and, horrified, said:
[03:46.21] "Look at the King! Look at the the King! Look at the King, the King, the King!
[03:53.30] The King is in the altogether, but altogether, the altogether
[03:57.15] He's altogether as naked as the day that he was born
[04:01.20] The King is in the altogether, but altogether, the altogether
[04:04.79] It's altogether the very least the King has ever worn. "
[04:08.76] Call the court physician! Call an intermission!
[04:12.67] His majesty is wide open to ridicule and scorn.
[04:16.24] "The King is in the altogether, but all together, the altogether
[04:19.94] He's altogether as naked as the day that he was born.
[04:25.49] And it's altogether too chilly a morn! "
