Scott Hansen, a graphic artist who makes sleek ambient music as
Tycho and maintains the equally streamlined design blog ISO50,
 has a singular artistic vision. Everything posted on ISO50 ascribes
to an almost soothingly minimal aesthetic that’s also audible in Tycho’s
 third album, 2011s Dive. “Awake” is the first single from Tycho’s new
LP out next year, and although Hansen still traffics in meticulously arranged
 guitar lines, this time the guitars take the lead instead of languishing in
 the background. Three different tonal patterns weave between each other with
the symmetry of a double helix, with just enough white noise in the background
for texture. Bright and clear, “Awake” is appropriately named and signals a
promising development in Tychos musical style.
